BJP hails Kashmir results historic, Opposition says setback for Centre

× After emerging as the single largest party in the District Development Council in Jammu and Kashmir following the elections, the BJP claimed that people have approved the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution.
Party leader and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters at a press conference here on Wednesday that the BJP has got more votes than both the People s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) and Congress.
While the PAGD bagged 110 seats, the BJP put up a strong show in the Jammu region. “Lotus has bloomed in the valley,” he said and added that the PAGD was formed because its constituents knew that they could not fight the BJP on their own. “This is a victory for India, democracy, hope, development and people of Jammu and Kashmir. This is a victory for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s larger narrative for Jammu and Kashmir,” Prasad sa
Referring to human rights activists lodged in jails, Prasad said, “Who are these people who want to break the country? Now demands are being raised to free those so-called intellectuals who are in jail for indulging in rioting in Delhi and Maharashtra. Police have filed chargesheets, they are not able to obtain bail from the court as trials are underway. Now these people have taken refuge under farmers movement for their interest but we will not allow them to succeed in their goal.”

Amid the ongoing farmer agitation, the RJD has claimed that BJP leaders have declared farmers as terrorists and now they are involving in deceiving the farmers by organising Chaupals or farmer meetings in Bihar.
The RJD said the farmers of Bihar will not deceived by the BJP.
The party reacted a day after Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and BJP leader Sanjay Jaiswal participated in a farmers Chaupal in Bakhtiyarpur in Patna district.
