Under new ownership, Earth Fare a national organic and natural foods grocer intends to reopen its St. Johns County, Fla. store roughly a year after declaring bankruptcy resulting in a nationwide liquidation including its three Jacksonville-area stores.
The store will ropen at the Shoppes of St. Johns Parkway in St. Johns in the second quarter of this year 2021, company officials with Earth Fare and commercial real estate owner and developer Sleiman Enterprises announced last Thursday. .

In August, Lee Giat drove to South Florida to see the plane he’s calling the “Spirit of Science” for the first time.
Giat, a 22-year-old graduate of the University of North Florida, went with a documentary crew to film a crowdfunding video for his latest project an ambitious adventure that involves flying a single-engine plane from Jacksonville to South America, landing at numerous spots during a 30-day journey, delivering educational supplies and inspiration to children.
While back in South Florida, where he grew up, Giat stayed with his dad.

Three days before Christmas, Anissa Cottongim was hospitalized in Jacksonville’s Mayo Clinic. The rare form of cancer the 51-year-old Ocala woman had been battling for a year had worsened.
“I was really emotional,” said Cottongim, who is a horse farmer and breeder. “Not in a good place.”
But on Dec. 22, after a week at Mayo, she was treated to an excursion outside in the sunshine. And she was stunned to see a horse grazing on the Mayo campus. A closer look revealed it was not just any horse, but her horse, a 14-year-old German Trakehner stallion named Tatendrang.
