Classroom visits and a few treats are easing the return to in-person learning. Between his four paws, wagging tail and calm demeanor, Casey s hard to miss in the halls at Gilmore Fine Arts School.

UNION GROVE â John Hetland and Jennifer Diener were more than just officers in the Racine Police Department. Both were also parents of students who still attend Union Grove High School.
To honor the two fallen police officers â Hetland killed while trying to stop a robbery at a bar, Diener in an off-duty car crash â fellow students at Union Grove are donating $15,000 to the Racine Police Department.
Members of the high school s National Honor Society collected community donations in recognition of the fact that Hetland and Diener not only were public servants, they also were part of the Union Grove High School community.

On Milwaukee s north side, one teacher has gone above and beyond doing just that.
At Northwest Catholic School near 41st and Good Hope, teacher Terrence Johnson has guided his students through the COVID-19 pandemic. They ve (teachers) been heroes. They ve been frontline workers in many ways, said Kathleen Cepelka, Ph.D., superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Union Grove High School s National Honor Society and Racine K-9 unit
UNION GROVE, Wis. - Union Grove High School s National Honor Society presented a check for $15,000 to the K-9 unit of two fallen Racine police officers Thursday, April 29.
The students raised the funds in honor of Officer Hetland and Officer Diener who were both killed in the line of duty in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Both officers were parents of Union Grove students, so this fundraiser was important and heartfelt for the NHS members, a release said.
