Union City Police seize counterfeit bills The Daily Reporter The Union City Police Department has seized a number of counterfeit bills and merchandise after an investigation last week.  Village Manager/ Police Chief Chris Mathis said the investigation started with a handful of counterfeit money complaints. Bills were passed twice at the Shell Station and once at BP. Then a private seller took $150 for an RC car on Facebook Marketplace which turned out to be counterfeit.   On Feb. 12, the UCPD, assisted by the Calhoun County Sheriff s Department, executed a search warrant on 8 Mile Road in Union City related to these complaints.

The department, along with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on 8 Mile Road on Feb. 12 related to the complaints. They seized counterfeit money, along with goods purchased with counterfeit money, and charges are pending. Anyone who suspects they’ve been given counterfeit bills – which were passed in all denominations – may contact the Union City Police Department at 517-741-9191.

Hudson County-based drug-trafficking ring nabbed

× Union City resident Juan Tejada, his alleged co-conspirators, and his alleged supplier have been charged with various narcotics offenses along with his intricate web of nearly two dozen associates. Following a year-long investigation, law enforcement arrested 20 people, dismantling a large-scale narcotics trafficking network spanning Hudson, Essex, Bergen, and Union Counties and New York City. Officers seized more than 9,400 grams of fentanyl, over 3,400 grams of cocaine, over 1700 grams of methamphetamine, over 800 grams of fentanyl pills, about eight grams of heroin, a loaded gun, and $118,395. The street value of the drugs is approximately $1 million. According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, which was involved in the investigation along with Homeland Security Investigation, the New York Police Department, and other law enforcement partners, the alleged operation’s ring leader was Juan Tejada of Union City who was allegedly a major supplier of cocai
