New Delhi [India], May 23 (ANI): A high-level meeting, chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, to discuss the conduct of CBSE exams for Class XII and entrance examinations for professional courses, is currently underway.
The Education Ministers of States and Union Territories, Education Secretaries and Chairpersons of State Examination Boards and stakeholders, in presence of Union Ministers Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Prakash Javadekar, Smriti Irani are presently attending the meeting. The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education and CBSE are exploring options regarding conducting the examinations, keeping in mind the safety and security of the students and the teachers. A high-level meeting was chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday, to discuss the conduct of CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021 and entrance examinations for professional courses including JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and NEET.
Reports suggest that the meeting is over without any consensus. No final decision regarding the conduct of Class 12 board exams has been taken yet.
The government had proposed two options – one to hold exams for only limited subjects and two to hold exams for all subjects but reduce the time for each exam from 3 hours to 1.5 hours and change questions to MCQ and short questions type only.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Sunday asked states to send their detailed suggestions regarding the conduct of Class 12 board examinations in detail. Earlier in the day, a high-level meeting chaired by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was held to deliberate on the issue.

The meeting was attended by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Education Minister RameshPokhriyal, Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Textiles, Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister for Forest, environment and Climate change and Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar and Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre. Secretary, Higher Education Amit Khare; Secretary, School Education, Anita Karwal and senior officials of the Ministry.
