New Delhi [India], April 20 (ANI): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday held a virtual meeting to review the preparedness of the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces to deal with the recent spike in COVID-19 cases across the country.
Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh, Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) Surg Vice Admiral Rajat Datta, Secretary (Defence Production) Raj Kumar, Chairman Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Dr G Satheesh Reddy and other senior civil and military officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

China has refused to withdraw its troops from Hot Springs and Gogra Post, two of the friction points between New Delhi and Beijing in Eastern Ladakh along the Line of Actual Control,
The Indian Express reported on Sunday.
Beijing’s refusal came even as India and China agreed to expeditiously resolve their outstanding matters at the 11th round of Corps Commander-level meeting held earlier in April. The two countries have completed disengagement at Pangong Tso in Ladakh. India and China had agreed to maintain stability in Eastern Ladakh and avoid any new incidents during the talks.

Lucknow, April 16 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided that the state government will set up a temporary 1,000-bed Covid hospital, possibly at the site where the Defence Expo was held last year.
Addressing a virtual meeting of Team 11 on Friday, the Chief Minister asked officials to work out the modalities in this regard without further delay.
Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is MP from Lucknow, has spoken to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and requested him to provide space to defence authorities for setting up makeshift hospitals.

Lucknow: Coming to the rescue of Covid-hit patients in his parliamentary constituency, the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced to set up two Covid Hospitals in the state capital Lucknow.
A team of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has rushed to Lucknow to select places for setting up two Covid hospitals of 250 beds and 300 beds respectively.
The Defence Minister has directed senior Army Medical Corps and DRDO officials to set-up the two hospitals at war-foot level at places offered by the state government under their supervision.
The make-shift hospitals will have all facilities to treat and take care of Covid positive patients. Besides general wards, it will have ICUs equipped with piped oxygen, ventilators all life-saving equipments to save lives of people in his parliamentary constituency.
