Not consulted over scrapping of Winter Session: Opposition
Opposition parties have in the past few days stepped up their demand for holding the Winter Session to discuss the farmers’ agitation over three new farm laws.

The Opposition parties alleged on December 15 that they were not consulted by the Centre over its move to scrap the Winter Session of the Parliament.
“Mr Pralhad Joshi is as usual departing from the truth,” Ramesh tweeted.
Union Parliamentary Affairs minister Pralhad Joshi had earlier written to Congress leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury informing him that leaders of all political parties were in favour of doing away with the winter session of Parliament.

New Delhi: The government on Tuesday announced that the Winter Session of Parliament has been called off in view of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said Parliament will next meet in January for the Budget Session. Various political party leaders expressed their concerns about the pandemic and opined of doing away with the Winter Session. Appropriate to have Budget Session2021 in January, Joshi said in response to a letter by Congress s Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, seeking the convening of the Winter Session of Parliament.

The Winter Session of Parliament will not take place this year due to COVID-19 pandemic, the government has said. The next session of Parliament to be held will thus be the Budget Session in January.
The government has informed Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury that the government is willing to hold the next session of Parliament at the earliest and it would be appropriate to have Budget Session in January, reports said.
