T Vikraman appointed nominated MLA

In a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Friday, Govind Mohan, Additional Secretary to Government of India, said the Central government has decided to nominate T. Vikraman as member of the Legislative Assembly. The Centre had made the appointment under section (3) of section 3 of the Government of Union Territories Act, 1963, the notification said. With the appointment, the strength of the Legislative Assembly has reached 30. The disqualification of a Congress legislator, death of a nominated legislator and resignation of two legislators, had earlier brought down the strength of the Assembly from 33, including three nominated, to 29.

IAS, IPS, IFS cadre of J&K merged with AGMUT cadre

Srinagar: The Government of India has amended the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act to merge IAS, IPS and IFS cadre of Jammu and Kashmir with Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories Act (AGMUT) cadre. The President of India promulgated an ordinance to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act which earlier protected the Jammu & Kashmir cadre of three prestigious services. This is the first amendment in the Reorganisation law after it was approved by the Parliament in August 2019. Earlier, the Reorganisation Act provided that the members of the cadres of Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service for the existing State of Jammu and Kashmir shall continue to function on the existing cadres.
