Polling concludes for 6th phase of District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir

2:13PM Over 51 per cent polling registered in the 6th phase of DDC polls in J&K AIR Pics The 6th phase of DDC Polls concluded smoothly across the J&K Union territory  on Sunday  with a turnout of over 51.51%. Addressing a press conference in Jammu this evening, State Election Commissioner K.K. Sharma said that in Jammu, voting per cent was 68.56 percent and in Kashmir Valley 31.55 percent voting was recorded. Our correspondent reports that   Poonch district topped the list with impressive voter turnout of  76.78% followed by Rajouri district with 74.03%. In Kashmir Valley Ganderbal district recorded highest polling at 58.4 % followed by Kupwara  District at 51.08% in the sixth  phase of elections.

(Representational Image) The Acting Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Rajesh Bindal has compared the government officers of the Union Territory with Kumbhakarna and said that they wake up from the deep slumber only after being repeatedly scolded and pulled up. Justice Bindal also said that huge loss is caused to the UT exchequer due to the callous and lackadaisical attitude of the government officials. Justice Rajesh Bindal made these observations while dismissing a plea filed by National India Construction Company challenging the rejection of its bid submitted in response to a tender for building a road under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

J&K Reports 434 New COVID-19 Cases, Tally Reaches 115207

SRINAGAR: The Government on Friday informed that 434 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 202 from Jammu division and 232 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 115207.
