Image Source: IANS News Chennai, April 23 : As part of containing the second wave of Covid-19 ,the Union Territory of Puducherry has banned the sale of all liquor including arrack, toddy and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in bars and toddy shops from 2 p.m. onwards from April 26 to 30. A circular issued by Deputy Commissioner (Excise) T Sudhakar said that liquor, arrack and toddy shops will remain closed from Friday night till Monday morning when the Union Territory is going for a lockdown.

The admissions to the hospital for non-emergency services will also be suspended here. To provide care to critically ill Covid-19 patients and to reduce the risk of transmission of the disease to non-Covid patients coming for OPD consultation. It has been decided to suspend physical visits for elective OPD services temporarily from April 26, said an official statement on Friday.

Image Source: IANS News Chennai, April 21 : The Union Territory of Puducherry has decided to impose lockdown from April 23 (Friday night) till April 26 (Monday morning) amidst the rising number of Covid-19 cases. The decision to impose lockdown in the Union Territory was taken by a high level meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry (Additional Charge), Tamilsai Soundararajan held at the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday late night.

The lockdown will kick in on the night of April 23 at 10 pm and will remain in effect till the morning of April 26 at 5 am. The order of the lockdown comes after the night curfew order that came on Tuesday. The Union Territory yesterday imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. According to an official letter, all shops should decide on the timings of closing their shops in such a manner that all of them will be back to their residences by 10 pm.
