JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Apr 23: In sudden spike in COVID deaths, Jammu and Kashmir today recorded this year’s single day highest 20 fatalities and 1937 fresh cases with Jammu district worst affected as it reported 525 positives, more than that of Srinagar district which reported 501.
Fourteen Corona casualties, six of them women including one each hailing from Mumbai in Maharashtra and Darbanga in Bihar and a 22-year-old youth besides 846 cases were reported in Jammu region while six persons succumbed to the virus and there were 1091 new cases in Kashmir.

Leh, Apr 21: Amid the resurgence of COVID-19 cases, the Union Territory of Ladakh is witnessing a regular spike in positive cases forcing authorities to order the closure of educational institutions besides reducing the gathering and transport seating capacity to 50 per cent to contain the spread.
Comprising two districts Leh and Kargil, in Ladakh Leh is the most affected with the infection positivity rate, and several cases have been registered against the violators.
Top health officials told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), there is a huge surge of COVID-19 cases in Ladakh with Leh district most affected having a total of 1730 active positive cases while only 82 in Kargil.

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Apr 19: A massive surge of 451 COVID positive cases in Jammu district saw Jammu region overtaking Kashmir division recording 768 positives as against 748 of Kashmir valley while the Union Territory reported six more casualties today. The district administration Jammu has declared five localities as micro-Containment Zones under Section 144 following spike in the cases while authorities in Leh today ordered that only those labourers with RT-PCR negative report not older than 96 hours will be allowed to enter Leh.
