WHAT IS JAMMU & KASHMIR REORGANISATION BILL Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Bill The Rajya Sabha on August 5, 2019, passed the Centre s resolution to reorganise Jammu and Kashmir. Under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019, the Centre plans to bifurcate the state of J&K into two Union Territories Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir. The government has decided to turn the state of J&K into two Union territories. Some of the provisions of the Bill include:
1. The Union Territory of Ladakh will comprise the following territories of the existing J&K: Kargil and Leh districts. These districts will cease to be part of the existing state of J&K.

JAMMU, Jan 12: The Union Territory Government has decided to airlift COVID vaccine doses to many far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir which are cut off by road because of heavy snowfall during winters while it braced up to receive 1.5 lakh doses of Covishield here directly from Pune by air in regular flights during next two days as the Health and Medical Education Department will initiate biggest ever vaccination drive in the UT from January 16 after its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The government of Union Territory of Ladakh has reopened Pangong lake for tourists from January 10. In an official press release, the deputy commissioner, Leh said that tourists intending to visit Pangong Lake should apply for Inner Line Permit (ILP) at DC office Leh near polo-ground. The tourists can also apply for the ILP online.
Pangong Lake, situated at a height of almost 4,350m, is the world’s highest saltwater lake. Extending to almost 160km, one-third of the Pangong Lake lies in India and the other two-thirds in China.
