NEW DELHI, July 28:
The Union Home Ministry today said there is no room for complacency in the approach to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic as the absolute number of positive cases is still significantly high.
Extending the existing pandemic guidelines till August 31, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla also said there should be continuous focus on the five-fold strategy of ‘test, track, treat, vaccinate and adhere to COVID-appropriate behaviour’ for effective management of COVID-19.
He also said there is a need to ensure adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour (CAB) in all crowded places in view of the upcoming festivals.

The North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) led by Home Minister Amit Shah has decided to deploy Central forces along the Assam-Mizoram borders which witnessed bloody clashes between the police forces of the two northeastern states on Monday (26 July), which led to the death of six Assam police personnel.
The decision to deploy Central paramilitary forces was taken during a meeting chaired by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla on Wednesday (28 July), sources said, adding that the Central forces were chosen to ensure neutrality and direct supervision from New Delhi.
