Three AI projects which will enable the use of the Maltese language in industry

With an investment of more than €161,000, they will lead to the Maltese language being written, understood, and processed in the technology we use every day. This was stated during a press conference portraying a successful collaboration between the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA) and the University of Malta. Minister Schembri explained how Artificial Intelligence is being explored as an assistive tool in the education sector and even in industry. He highlighted the benefits of the three projects, called Speech Processing, Text Processing, and Edu AI. This announcement has been made as part of the company’s annual CSR programme.   At a press conference held on Wednesday 24 th February at the University of Malta, Maltco Lotteries signed a collaboration agreement for a minimum of 3 years with the University’s Institute of Digital Games. The cooperation was announced in the presence of Minister for Economy and Industry Hon. Silvio Schembri who was present on behalf of the government, together with University of Malta Rector Prof. Alfred J. Vella and the director and professor at the institute of Digital Games Prof. Georgios N. Yannakakis.
