“The SSS (Social Security System) has ECC for kasambahay…so for example if they contracted COVID they have daily income benefit of P480 per day up to 14 days plus cash assistance of P10,000 and medical reimbursement,” DoLE Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) Director Karen Trayvilla said during the “Laging Handa” forum.
“The testing of the kasambahay is covered by Philhealth provided they are a member,” Trayvilla added.
The Labor official said employers should take care of the hospital treatment especially if they didn’t enroll their kasambahay in the Social Security System and Philippine Health Insurance Corp.

Reynaldo Sta. Ana of the OSHC said this applies not just for COVID-19 but also for other diseases suffered by the household service worker (HSW).
“It is not just with COVID-19, but also with tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis B. These aren’t enough reasons,” he said in a virtual forum on Tuesday.
Sta. Ana said employers should have compassion and help their kasambahays gain access to medical facilities and have their medical needs addressed.
“Based on existing workplace guidelines regarding COVID-19, employers are required to shoulder the testing and hospitalization of their COVID-19 infected kasambahays,” he said.
