FILE. KETTERING – Jobs and economic development were a key focus for Kettering in 2020 and will continue to be this year. The city’s north end was a source of both significant job departures and business attraction in 2020, with much attention on employment hubs Kettering Business Park and Miami Valley Research Park, according to Mayor Don Patterson. Major employers left - Synchrony Financial from the business park and WilmerHale from the research park - bringing “significant loss in revenue” for the city, Patterson said in his final state of the city address last week.

The building, 23550 Commerce Park, was purchased by the city more than a decade ago after it served as the offices and warehouse of Jo-Ann Fabrics stores. The city is selling the northern portion of the building for $2.7 million to Industrial Commercial Properties (ICP), of Solon. The company refurbishes such large commercial and industrial properties for reuse and lease.
