Tim McDonald named as new Lanier Tech president
Lanier Technical College’s Tim McDonald was formally approved as the new president of the school following a Technical College System of Georgia meeting Thursday, April 1.
McDonald previously served as the executive vice president for the school.
The system’s executive committee chairman Doug Carter said the process involved a search committee interviewing candidates, who were in turn interviewed by the Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Greg Dozier.
Following an executive session, the board voted unanimously for McDonald, who Carter said had been with the school for more than three decades.

SB 27 Professional Licenses; extend the time a member of the military has to qualify for the issuance of a license; electrical contractor, plumber; PASSED 155-0 RETURNS TO SENATE
SB 115 Drivers Licenses; instructional course; educating drivers and the public on best practices to implement when interacting with law enforcement officers; provide PASSED 98-72 PASSED RETURNS TO SENATE
SB 201 Revenue and Taxation; financial institutions to provide certain information related to delinquent taxpayers to the Department of Revenue under certain conditions; require PASSED 112-55 RETURNS TO SENATE
SB 204 Education; State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia to award high school diplomas; provide [A Rules Committee Substitute will be on the Floor to correct some typographical formatting issues.] PASSED 155-14 RETURNS TO SENATE
Technical College System of Georgia Commissioner Greg Dozier announced today that Dr. Julie Post, Vice President of Student Affairs at Gwinnett Technical College, will be the next president of West Georgia Technical College.
Post has a rich educational background in secondary and post-secondary education as well as higher education administration. After serving as a high school teacher and then an adjunct instructor, she joined Gwinnett Technical College in 2005.
“Dr. Post is a proven postsecondary leader within the Technical College System of Georgia with the experience and skills necessary to lead West Georgia Technical College,” said TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier. “She is committed to expanding opportunity to more Georgians through higher education and to continue developing a skilled workforce for our business and industry partners. Today is an exciting day for West Georgia Technical College and the communities it serves.”
