Teacher Appreciation Week is presented through a partnership between NEWSChannel 2, The Genesis Group and First Source Credit Union.

(WXYZ) â Low-income college students enrolled in career and technical education programs in Michigan can apply for food assistance.
The Michigan Departments of Labor and Economic Opportunity and Health and Human Services are encouraging students to apply for food assistance benefits online at Michigan.gov/MIBridges.
LEO and MDHHS developed the initiative in 2020 to address rising food insecurity among students that has been made worse by COVID-19.
State officials say close to 16,000 low-income college students in Michigan who are enrolled in career and technical education programs are eligible to receive food assistance benefits through the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

Beloved father, husband, teacher and man of service, Frank Joseph Trione died February 16, 2021 at the age of 68. He is preceded in death by his parents Joby and Gladys Trione. He is survived by his wife Margaret and daughter Margaret Frances; brother Ben Trione; sisters Anne Trione (Wende) , Sara Trione and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frank’s love of Daphne and Christ the King Church began with learning his family’s history in building both. His childhood, as well as his graduating from CKS, brought him many lifelong friends. Later in life, he served on the Christ the King Parish Council and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a man of faith and charity with a dedication to serving his community. He served as Daphne City Councilman and was on the Daphne Utility Board from 1980 – 1986. Frank was always a part of any Daphne celebration or charitable event.
