At a furniture workshop in Mpererwe a Kampala suburb, I find about 10 young boys in the ages of 12 - 15 involved in carpentry work. Some are sanding furniture, others painting and some are observing the workmen go about their various tasks.
Addressing journalists at their offices in Ntinda this morning, the UBTEB Executive Secretary, Onesmus Oyesigye said students pursuing certificates in various programs were supposed to sit for their exams last year between November and December but due to covid-19, the exercise was postponed.
He said a total of 30,069 students will sit for their examinations from 460 centers across the country.
Oyesigye adds that the board has deployed 2,000 supervisors, 15,000 practical examiners and 443 scouts asking heads of institutions to observe the Standard Operation Procedures put in place by the ministry of health while conducting the exams.
Angry losing MPs withdraw ambulances
February 24, 2021 Minister Evelyn Anite s ambulance
To strengthen her re-election bid last September ahead of the NRM parliamentary primaries, outspoken minister of state for Investment and Privatisation, Evelyn Anite donated an ambulance to her constituents in the West Nile town of Koboko Municipality–creating one of the most critical services in this sub-region where too few ambulances are normally available for millions of people.
The second act of the MP was to use the donation to whip up the colour-coded politics in the sub-region. The ambulance was painted yellow to emphasize Anite’s loyalty to the ruling NRM party and bore an imprint; “MP Nakonesi” (Kakwa, for an action-oriented MP).
