Pileje Laboratoire has revealed details of a new collaboration formed with BIOASTER to investigate the possible immune supporting benefits of probiotic strains as part of the fight against the COVID-19 virus.
The agreement looks to harness BIOASTER’s expertise in microbiome-based research to create a human-cell based
in vitro system that mirrors interactions taking place in the gut-lung axis.
“We are excited to develop new tools for the investigation of mechanisms behind the microbiota impact in the gut-lung axis, especially relevant to the current Covid-19 pandemics,” Nathalie Garçon, Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) of BIOASTER.
“While the physiopathology of SARS-CoV-2 infections is far from being fully understood, growing evidences point to a link between gut microbiota and lung immune system that could play a role in the disease development and outcomes.

China’s 2021 fuel exports to surge 32% as refining capacity swells- CNPC research
China’s fuel exports are likely to expand by nearly a third this year as the world’s second-largest oil consumer adds new refineries that will exacerbate a supply overhang, said a unit of top oil and gas group China National Petroleum Company.
An estimated 14.74 million tonnes per year, or 295,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude run capacity, will be added this year, bringing the country’s total to 18 million bpd, CNPC’s Economics and Technology Research Institute (ETRI) said in its annual industry outlook released on Friday.

(Bloomberg) China’s ever-expanding oil refining capacity will increase competition among crude processors around the world and weigh on their margins, the nation’s biggest energy producer said.
Refining capacity will reach 900 million tons this year and rise to 980 million tons by 2025, according to a report from Economics & Technology Research Institute, which is affiliated with China National Petroleum Corp. Capacity will outstrip local demand by at least 160 million tons a year by 2025, CNPC said.
