UPMC has announced that the purchase of Aut Even Hospital has been approved by Ireland’s Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and that the deal can now be finalised.
Ireland’s oldest private hospital, which has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art facility, will be renamed UPMC Aut Even Hospital and becomes the third UPMC hospital in Ireland, following the purchase of UPMC Whitfield in 2018 and UPMC Kildare in 2019.

PITTSBURGH With the acquisition of the oldest private hospital in Ireland, UPMC announced it will expand services at Aut Even Hospital in Kilkenny to better serve patients throughout the country.
Patients and staff at the 105-year-old hospital, to be renamed UPMC Aut Even Hospital, will benefit from UPMC’s planned investments in new or additional medical services and technologies.
“In coordination with nearby UPMC Whitfield Hospital and other UPMC operations stretching from Kildare to Cork, the purchase of Aut Even gives us the opportunity to conveniently and effectively treat more patients close to home,” said Charles Bogosta, president of UPMC International. “Our growing footprint in Ireland means that more patients in more places will have access to health care managed by a leading academic medical center focused on providing cutting-edge treatments and world-class quality to every patient we serve.”
