The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has announced the development of kadios (Cajanus cajan) or black-eyed pea as skin antibiotic.
DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said it was Dr. Doralyn Dalisay, a Balik Scientist, who looked into the development of the legume, which is commonly grown on Panay Island, as skin antibiotic.

He said Dalisay’s novel study focused on the chemical and biological characterization of pure and bioactive compounds from kadios (Cajanus cajan) seeds and its topical formulation studies.”

The Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) is launching the country’s first “gender-sensitive” online dashboard for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.
This was disclosed by DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” de la Peña during his weekly report on Friday, April 23.

“We have a report on the National Research Council of the Philippines regarding the launching of their gender-responsive COVID-19 Cases Monitor (CCMon).This is actually a dashboard with a graphical user interface that provides at-a-glance views of the number of COVID-19 cases or progress report across the national and local government units, regional, provincial, municipality, barangay,” he said.
