Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) said, “We ought to listen to the scientists.” At the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, CNS News asked the senator, “Should public schools and colleges be able to mandate that students be vaccinated for COVID-19?” Senator Warnock said, “I think all of us are better off the more people get vaccinated, and so we have to keep sending that message. And in terms of the policy around that, we ought to listen to the scientists.”

John Cornyn (R-Tex.) said vaccination should be “voluntary.” At the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, CNS News asked the senator, “Should public schools and colleges be able to mandate that students be vaccinated for COVID-19?” Sen. Cornyn said, “Well, I think it should be voluntary. But obviously if people aren’t vaccinated, they need to take proper precautions, including masking. That’s what the CDC guidelines are right now and, of course, they’re subject to change depending on circumstances.”

Sen Hawley: Serious Concerns About Mandating Vaccine That Has Emergency-Use Approval

Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said he has “serious concerns” about mandating a vaccine under emergency approval by the FDA.  At the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, CNS News asked the senator, “Should public schools and colleges be able to mandate that students be vaccinated for COVID-19?” Sen. Hawley said, “Let me just say that I’ve got really serious concerns about these institutions mandating the use of a vaccine that’s only been approved for temporary – that only has a temporary use authorization, emergency, I’m sorry, emergency-use authorization.”
