(TNN) - In a special meeting today, Lawton City Council finalized the purchase of Central Mall and voted to approve a 25-year lease agreement between the city and the FISTA Development Trust Authority. Last October, Lawton city council decided to buy the entire mall and use empty stores to create a complex to house military defense contractors who work on Fort Sill, and with the two U-S Army Cross Functional teams there.

Digital Catapult teams with industry for prototype challenge

6th January 2021 10:35 am 6th January 2021 10:35 am Firms including BAE Systems, Babcock and Sainsbury’s are partnering with the Digital Catapult for a new set of prototype challenges aimed at boosting technology adoption across industry. (Credit BAE Systems) The Made Smarter Technology Accelerator will see a total of 14 challenges laid out for start-up and early-stage companies to tackle. These include increasing shelf life and sell-through of products while reducing waste (Sainsbury’s) to scalable artificial intelligence for visual inspection (BAE Systems). Selected entries will be provided with up to £20,000 in funding to develop prototypes, with a further £100,000 available further down the line to develop minimum viable products.

City of Lawton Has Purchased The Central Mall (FIRES Innovation Science and Technology Accelerator) project. The Lawton City Council met last Friday (12-18-20) in a special session to finalize the purchase of the mall at a price tag of 14.6 MILLION! They ll be closing on it (01-05-21). A few months ago it was announced that the FISTA program would be located in the old Sears space in the Central Mall, click here for all the details. The LEDC (Lawton Economic Development Corporation) switched locations. Originally FISTA was to be housed at the old Fairmont Creamery building. After the deal fell through they focused on moving the project to the Central Mall. It would definitely be easier to remodel than the Creamery, however the price tag went from around 2.5 million all the way up to 14.6 million.
