Haleem Adil s arrest: PTI and PPP MPs exchange hot words in NA

National February 23, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Tuesday witnessed an exchange of hot words between the PTI and PPP legislators on the issue of arrest of Opposition Leader in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh. The PTI back-benchers from Karachi wanted to raise the issue of Haleem Adil’s arrest on a point of order but Speaker Asad Qaiser gave the floor for presenting the National Assembly standing committees’ reports. As they continued to raise their demand amid loud sloganeering, the PPP legislators frustrated their move by pointing out the quorum. As the PPP legislator Agha Rafiullah pointed out the quorum, the PTI legislators from Karachi, including Faheem Khan, Aftab Jehangir, Attaullah and others, gathered round the opposition benches and exchanged hot words with the PPP legislator while the count was being made.

Two ordinances, 10 reports presented in NA National February 23, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Two ordinances and 10 periodical reports of the standing committees were presented in the National Assembly on Monday. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan presented the Special Technology Zones Authority Ordinance 2020 and the Elections (Amendment) Ordinance 2021. He also presented the report of the 1st Biannual Monitoring on the Implementation of NFC Award for the period of July December, 2019. On behalf of Chairman Standing Committee on Defence, a committee member, Riaz Pirzada, presented the report of the Committee on the Maritime Security Agency (Amendment) Bill, 2020. Chairman Standing Committee on Law and Justice Riaz Fatyana presented report of the Committee on the International Court of Justice (Review and Reconsideration) Bill, 2020. Ten periodical reports of as many standing committees were presented in the House.

Govt to lay Senate vote ordinance in NA today - Pakistan

The government had tabled the 26th Constitution Amendment Bill in the National Assembly on Feb 3 without trying to take the opposition on board. APP/File ISLAMABAD: Following the directive of Speaker Asad Qaiser, the government is set to lay the controversial Senate open vote ordinance before the National Assembly on Monday (today) when the lower house will go into session after a two-day recess. The agenda issued for Monday’s sitting by the National Assembly Secretariat shows that the 26th Constitution Amendment Bill, 2021, which the government had tabled in the assembly earlier this month for the same purpose, but could not get it passed due to strong resistance by the opposition parties, is also part of the agenda.
