Itâs not very often I watch the network evening news, but when I do itâs usually CBS, because I like Norah OâDonnell, the anchor, and some of their correspondents, especially Steve Hartman, whose weekly âOn The Roadâ segment is a life-affirming antidote to the usual depressing fare that passes for news these days.

A STALWART fundraiser for cancer research has died after a short illness. Norma Robinson was born on 10 June 10, 1936 in Skipton Hospital – her parents Walter and Ada Metcalfe lived in Hawkswick – living with Grandad Metcalfe. After moving to Litton to run Sawsgarth Farm Norma’s sister Pat was born. The sisters went to Arncliffe School to start with and then the family moved to Foxup to farm jointly with Walters brother John Metcalfe, wife Gladys and son ‘Young John’. The three children were brought up together and have remained close throughout their lives. Norma often said Aunty Gladys was her second mother and she loved to spend time with Uncle John, Aunty Gladys and young John over the years spending many happy years visiting their farm. Norma, Pat and John went to school at Holton Gill walking a mile each day, whatever the weather in clogs, this was no easy task especially if it snowed when the snow built up under the clog and made it impossible to walk.

From tripadvisor to trustpilot, people love checking what other people think. But what if you could get a recommendation from the Queen herself?
Actually you can, and Norfolk has more Royal Warrants than any other county in the country. The royal seal of approval has been around for more than 500 years and can be awarded by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh or the Prince of Wales. More than 700 businesses which supply goods or services to royal households across the UK have a Royal Warrant - 44 of them in Norfolk.
The Queen has appointed the former head of MI5 as Lord Chamberlain, the most senior official in her royal household, Buckingham Palace has announced.
Andrew Parker, Baron Parker of Minsmere, will take up his new role on April 1, succeeding Earl Peel who is retiring after more than 14 years in the post.
Baron Parker served as director general of MI5 from April 2013 until last year and was a career intelligence officer having joined MI5 in 1983.

He hosted the Queen’s first visit to MI5’s headquarters in central London in February last year, when she praised the intelligence agency’s officers for the “tireless work you do to keep our country safe”.
