(WTVY) - The city of Dothan will pay $250,000 to settle a lawsuit stemming from a Dothan police officer involved shooting. Robert Earl Lawrence died in December 2014 during a scuffle with Officer Adrian Woodruff at the Dothan Animal Shelter. Lawrence had gone there to drop off a stray dog he found wondering around a Walmart parking lot.

Shooting incident – Chipley Bugle

On Wednesday, March 3, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) received information from Houston County about a shooting incident involving a resident of Jackson County. JCSO deployed resources throughout the county in an effort to locate the suspect and the crime scene. The investigation revealed the incident took place at 2754 Highway 2 near Campbellton. JCSO’s aviation unit located the suspect’s vehicle in southern Houston County, abandoned. While attempting to track the suspect in the area of the abandoned vehicle, JCSO received word the suspect had turned himself in to law enforcement at the Marianna Police Department. He was identified as Jeffrey Jerome Edenfield.

K9 Lasso, handled by Cpl. Wade Strickland and K9 Highway, handled by Cpl. Jeremy Abbott, participated in the narcotics detection portion of the event, with K9 Highway placing 3rd in the vehicle detection competition out of 70 teams in attendance.
