The local government of Pasig City is planning to use public schools as coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination centers in the city.
During the visit of the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team to Pasig on Tuesday, Mayor Vico Sotto explained that public schools are suitable venue for the implementation of the city’s inoculation program against COVID-19.
“Dito po sa Pasig, nakita po namin ‘yung best venue para sa ating vaccination site ay ang ating mga pampublikong paaralan kasi ito po ‘yung may space, may kuwarto, nae-exercise ‘yung social distancing at may ventilation po (Here in Pasig, we saw that the best venue for our vaccination site is our public schools because they have space, rooms, social distancing will be exercised and there is ventilation),” Sotto said.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto had this to say as the city, in cooperation with the national government, prepares for the rollout of the vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“For everything that’s happened, finally, we see the light at the end of the tunnel. At alam natin kung ano ka-importante itong bakuna (And we know how important this vaccine is),” Sotto said.
“The message of the vaccines is not just a message of medicine or healthcare. It’s really a message of hope,” he added.
The mayor said that no one could predict what would happen following the worldwide outbreak of the new coronavirus disease early last year.

Tiangco said that former barangay chairman Estelito Bautista’s filing of charges before the Office of the Ombudsman of graft, breach of conduct, and violation of the local government code against him is “obviously politically motivated since the election season [will already start] next year.”
“How can he responsibly perform his duties if he has not reported for work since then? More importantly, how can he be allowed to receive salaries for the time that he has never reported for work inside the City Hall?” Bautista wrote in the complaint.
Tiangco shrugged off Bautista’s move, saying the latter is just a political rival.
