The Downtown Windsor Farmers Market opened for the season Saturday with hundreds attending throughout the day, anxious to pick up a wide variety of food items made available with 40 vendors in place.
Attendance at any given time was limited due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, but visitors seemingly had no issues waiting their turn in lineups to enter the market on Pelissier Street just north of Wyandotte Street.

“It went really well,” said Brian Yeomans, chairman of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association which operates the weekly event. “Everybody had a good time and did all the right things. The health unit was there, police were there and we had no complaints at all.”

WINDSOR, ONT. Windsorites will have the chance to pick up goods from local vendors Saturday at the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market. The popular outdoor market will reopen Saturday at 8 a.m. for its sixth season on Pellier Street and Maiden Lane. Shoppers will be able to peruse produce, food and artisanal goods from more than 40 vendors. Farmers’ markets are deemed an essential service similar to brick-and-mortar grocery stores. Organizers say a number of health and safety protocols will be implemented this year including: Physical distancing measures at entry and exit points. Division of site and one-way traffic flow in each direction.
