Show Off Your Love For Maine With The Maine Shirt Club

Celebrate National Cheese Lovers Day With Maine s #1 Cheese

Happy National Cheese Lovers Day! The love of cheese goes back over 5000 years. Seriously, could you get through your life without a copious amount of cheese?  Everything goes better with cheese. It s used for every meal.breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The people at Zippia have put together a list of every state s favorite cheese. For us here in Maine? We re keeping it simple and patriotic. AMERICAN is Maine s favorite cheese. Where American cheese (or Pasteurized Process American Cheese, as the FDA likes to call it ) differs is that once the cheese is made (and yes, American cheese starts with real, honest-to-goodness cheese), it is blended with a few other ingredients to alter its texture and flavor.  This is what allows American cheese to melt without breaking or turning greasy the way a traditional cheese does.

Did You Feel That Earthquake in Maine a Few Days Ago?

Did You Feel That Earthquake in Maine a Few Days Ago? By no means was it a massive, earth-shattering earthquake, but I feel like earthquakes are so random in New England that no matter how big or how small, we re usually all like, WHOA! AN EARTHQUAKE?! HERE?! That was more or less what it was like in Downeast Maine on Sunday (which goes to show that here it is Wednesday morning, and it was so minor that I m like oh, there was an earthquake? Cool. Let me blog about it because EARTHQUAKE IN MAINE!). According to Channel 8 WMTW, a little quake that registered at a 2.8 on the ole Richter Scale hit in Washington County just southeast of Centerville and northwest of Jonesboro.

A Maine Road Has The Highest Speed Limit East of the Mississippi

If you are the type of person that likes to hammer down on the open road, then Maine might just be the place for you. The entire East Coast has pretty conservative speed limits. Not like out west. Portions of Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming have 80 mph speed limits. The highest posted speed limit in the country is 85 mph and can be found only on Texas State Highway 130.     To really open it up anywhere East of the Mississippi River, you need to be in Maine T he speed limit is 75 mph on the stretch of I-95 between Old Town and Houlton. Of source, you could go faster and no one would probably know. I ve been on that stretch before and did not see a car in either direction for over an hour. The distance between Old Town and Houlton is 109 miles and the midway point is Benedicta, Maine. Let s see, with the posted speed limit at 75 mph, that means most people go 85. And 90 mph probably is a regular thing.
