New 392-home community coming to State Road 200 corridor
A new single-family subdivision on 102 acres is being planned on the State Road 200 corridor along the southern border of the Market Street at Health Brook mall, west of Interstate 75 and behind Bojangles and RaceTrac.
On Jan. 14, a publicly traded community developer known as Forestar Group Inc. (FOR) purchased the property from Ocala Trophy LTD for $2.055 million to create a 392-home community.
Forestar Group, based in Arlington, Texas, has launched 51 communities in 21 states, with 12 locations in Florida. The Ocala community will be named The Ridge at Heath Brook. The vision for The Ridge at Heath Brook is a gated lifestyle community offering resort-style amenities with interconnected walkways to one of Ocala’s premier outdoor shopping destinations, the Market Street at Heath Brook, according to a prepared statement from Forestar West Florida Division President Tony Squitieri.

SW Marion growth: More Fore Ranch homes on the horizon
Long before the construction of Interstate 75 bisected Marion County about five decades ago, Circle Fore Ranch along State Road 200 was a working cattle ranch on 500 acres.
The land, located just west of I-75, continued as a working ranch until the early 2000s, when plans were unveiled by the Fore family to replace cattle with homes – lots of them.
That’s how the Fore Ranch community began nearly two decades ago. Today, there are hundreds of single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums on about 350 to 400 acres. And the development is poised to grow even more in the near future.
Carey Marcoux prepared for a tough Christmas season last year by practicing what to tell her two daughters, ages 4 and 8, about no presents under the tree. We were going to tell them Christmas is more about family than presents but I didn t want them to be disappointed or feel they didn t deserve gifts, Carey Marcoux said.
On Monday, she and her husband, Peter, recounted their family s experience over the last nine months at the west Marion County home where they have lived for the last 10 years.
Carey Marcoux, previously healthy and an avid walker, unexpectedly suffered a severe migraine headache on May 30, 2020. The debilitating headaches have continued and treatment has been ongoing. She has not been able to work at her job with a local flooring company.
