Two new restaurants and an urgent care facility are among many new construction projects going on in Fort Smith.
C.R. Crawford Construction is building the Fort Smith Walk-On s Sports Bistreaux.
There are currently two Walk-On s Sports Bistreaux in Arkansas. One is at 4050 S. JB Hunt Drive in Rogers and the other is at 955 South Amity Road in Conway. There are about 20 Walk-On s in Louisiana and the chain has many other restaurants across the South, including one on the Texas side of Texarkana.

Dirt work for what will become Blue Ember Smokehouse started recently near 8000 Phoenix Ave., across from Mercy Orthopedic Hospital and near the new Chambers Bank along Little Massard Creek.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. On Friday (Dec. 18) U. S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson awarded approximately $78 million to hundreds of public housing authorities across the country to help residents of public housing and voucher-assisted housing increase their earned income and reduce their dependency on public assistance and rental subsidies.
According to HUD, 15 Arkansas Housing Authorities will share in $620,454 under the program.

The downtown player who proposed an alternate truck route has taken issue with the results of the downtown Fort Smith truck study, but those who executed the study say there s good reason for why they conducted it the way they did.
Central Business Improvement District Commissioner Phil White in an email Wednesday said he saw three main proposed truck routes from Halff Associates downtown Fort Smith truck study as options that are not options. He argued in his email that his proposed truck route, which cost the city roughly 10.6% of what it paid for the truck study and captivated city directors at the Tuesday night study session.
