Berkshire County Communities Receive Trail Project Funding

The Greylock Glen in Adams received funding for two projects BOSTON The Baker-Polito Administration announced nearly $4 million in grant funding to support 52 trail projects across the Commonwealth as part of the MassTrails Grant Program.    The grants will assist the construction, maintenance, and improvements for a variety of public trails across the Commonwealth, including hiking trails, bikeways, and shared-use paths.    Massachusetts has a vast network of public trails which connect communities and regions together, providing recreation, exercise, and tremendous access to the natural world, and this funding offers an excellent opportunity to continue building and expanding that network and support new opportunities for outdoor recreation, said Governor Charlie Baker. Olympics Games in Tokyo…The Track and Field Games in Pittsfield With the opening ceremony of the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo just days away, the games will have an inspiring effect on kids of all ages.  As a kid growing up in the days of great Boston teams, I was Larry Bird dribbling in my driveway hitting a jump shot with time running out to win the game.  On the same driveway I was wearing my rollerblades with my street hockey stick in hand pretending I was Bobby Orr scoring a goal to win the Stanley Cup. These types of scenarios will be played out as the inspiration of the Olympic athletes propel us into action in backyards and driveways across the Berkshires.  Watching the U.S. soccer team will inspire some to go outside and kick the ball around.  Others will jump on their bike after watching the competitive mountain bike event.
