Be careful on your way to work in the morning, as overnight winter weather could cause hazardous conditions along roads in eastern North Carolina. A winter weather advisory has already been issued in Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Forsyth, Granville, Guilford, Orange, Person, and Randolph counties from midnight to noon Wednesday (December 16).
Freezing rain overnight could cause up to a quarter-inch of ice in some areas, but the majority of the counties will experience rain, especially toward Alexander, Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Iredell, and Lincoln.
Durham Public Schools and Granville County have already announced a two-hour delay for Wednesday, and end of the year testing for City of Medicine Academy, Middle College at Durham Tech, and New Tech high schools will be rescheduled. Person County and Alamance-Burlington schools will operate remotely.
