LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - A local organization is upset about some vandalism at Lawtonâs skate park and the Police Department is warning people against committing these crimes.
Two years ago, Young Professionals of Lawton painted the ramps in the skate park at McMahon Park as a part of United Wayâs Day of Caring.
Criminals vandalized it in the last several weeks with bright pink and blue spray paint.
Young Professionalsâ Albert Rivas said itâs disheartening to see others do this to volunteersâ hard work.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The Lawton City Council will be meeting Tuesday to discuss a number of issues.
On the agenda is a discussion about using some of the money made form the Hotel-Motel Tax to fund advertising for FISTA and mall property.
The Council also plans to talk about the ownership of Butch Suttle Park.
They’ll also be discussing a pending action with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality about a Notice of Violation issued back in October of 2019.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The Environmental Protection Agency issued a health advisory establishing a threshold concentration of two chemicals that have been found in some drinking water.
Fort Sill is seeking permission to test the water wells of some private landowners surrounding post for those chemicals.
The chemicals PFOS and PFOA are in the foam that firefighters have been using for years.
The EPA has now deemed these chemicals potentially hazardous when found in amounts higher than 70 parts per trillion.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The City of Lawton is warning residents against flushing âflushableâ wipes.
The Cityâs Wastewater Collection Division sent a memo explaining how damaging the wipes are to Lawtonâs sewer system.
The memo says that out of 306 debris related sewer calls the Wastewater Collection Division responded to between March 2020 and March 2021, about 75% of those were due to blockages from the non-biodegradable wipes.
Thatâs a total of 229 calls.
