A Christian Circuit Court judge has set a hearing for next week to set a trial date after a special prosecutor for the commonwealth filed a motion to withdraw the motion to dismiss the perjury charge against retired Hopkinsville Police Lieutenant Jefferson Alexander.
Alexander was indicted in March 2019 for first-degree perjury for allegedly providing false testimony to a Christian County grand jury in 2012 in the case of former city councilwoman Ann Cherry. She was charged with official misconduct, tampering with a witness, and tampering with a public record. As part of a plea agreement, Cherry resigned from her council seat.
