Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 13) The anti-narcotics unit chief of the Zamboanga City Police Office tested positive for illegal drug use, the Philippine National Police said Wednesday.
Police Major Jivertson Pelovello, chief of the City Drug Enforcement Unit, was relieved of his post and reassigned to another division pending the investigation against him, the PNP said in a statement, adding he was disarmed.
PNP chief Debold Sinas also ordered that he be placed under restrictive custody.
Pelovello was among the 60 PNP personnel in Zamboanga City who underwent random drug tests last month. Pelovello was initially screened and subsequent confirmatory test last January 6, 2021 yielded (a) positive result, the statement added.

Colonel Rommel Batangan, Angeles City police director, said the City Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon conducted the buy-bust operation against Ron, Bognot and Gerald in Barangay Tabun.
