Ease of Living Index 2021: Bengaluru Tops The List, Hyderabad Nowhere in The Scene Mar 04, 2021, 17:28 IST
On March 4, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing and Urban Affairs released the rankings for Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 and Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020. The event was conducted online as the public gathering is not allowed.
In the presence of Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, MoHUA and senior officials of the Ministry, the event took place. The ranking was divided into two categories. One was- cities with over one million population and second was- cities with less than one million population.
A total of 111 cities were included in this ranking and the assessment took place among these. The categorization is done under two broad sections. Million+ populated cities (cities with a population of over one million) and Less than Million populated cities (cities with a population of less than one million).

New Delhi [India], March 4 (ANI): Bengaluru emerged as the top performer in the Ease of Living Index 2020 in the Million plus category , according to the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
Indore has bagged the first spot in Municipal Performance Index (MPI) in the Million plus category followed by Surat and Bhopal.
Union Minister of State Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri announced the release of the final rankings of the Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 and the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020 in an online event on Thursday.

Pune was second and Ahmedabad was ranked third among 111 cities. Puri announced the release of the final rankings of Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 and the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020 in an online event. The rankings under Ease of Living Index 2020 were announced for cities with a population of more than a million, and cities with less than a million people. 111 cities participated in the assessment exercise that was conducted in 2020. The analysis categorises them into Million+ populated cities (those with a population of more than a million) and Less than Million populated cites (those with a population of less than a million) along with all the cities under the Smart Cities Program.

Bengaluru has been rated the most liveable city in India in the government s Ease of Living Index . The others, in the order of ranking, are Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodra, Indore and Greater Mumbai.
Of the 49 cities ranked on livability index in the million-plus population category, Delhi figures in the 13th spot and Srinagar at the bottom. A total of 111 cities were judged in the index released on Thursday.
According to the index released by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Shimla topped the category of cities with a population less than million .
