Image Source: IANS News Gurugram, Dec 22 : In a unique initiative, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to seek help from city-based private and government schools, NGOs and RWAs to explain the process of waste segregation to the city s residents. Under this initiative, the civic body had recently organised an online meet along with the school principals of nearly 100 schools and had asked them to educate their students and parents through online processes about waste segregation.

After successful completion of the first phase of Alag Karo - Har Din Teen Bin programme, Tetra Pak India along with Coca-Cola India and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), have again joined hands with Bengaluru-based not-for-profit organisation Saahas to extend the initiative’s reach in Gurugram and select locations in New Delhi. The programme aims at achieving improved recycling rates Jaideep Gokhale, sustainability director, Tetra Pak South Asia, said, “At Tetra Pak, we have long believed in honourable prime minister Narendra Modi’s proposition to start looking at waste as wealth. Our cartons are paper-based, recyclable and have the lowest carbon footprint among all other packaging materials used for similar food products. So, when we choose carton packaging, we are already making a positive choice.

Zero-waste day to be observed by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram on December 25

December 19, 2020 Share The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to observe a zero-waste day on December 25, during which the civic body will only collect wet waste from households across the city. This is likely to be observed once every month in the future for reducing waste. On December 25, workers will only collect only wet waste from locations where residents carry out waste segregation. In other areas, where residents are yet to adopt the practice, workers have been told to inform residents about the basic types of waste segregation and given instructions not to collect any waste at all on December 25.
