Federal, provincial goverments now both on board with Calgary transit project

  CALGARY The Alberta government says it s now confident in the plan the City of Calgary put together for its massive Green Line LRT project and the federal government is on board too. Justin Trudeau made the announcement that Ottawa was approving the $5.5-billion transit plan during a media conference at a Calgary Transit maintenance yard on Wednesday afternoon. This fall, construction on Phase 1 of the LRT Green Line will begin in Calgary s Beltline and downtown, he said from the Oliver Bowen Maintenance Yard. We re also looking forward with the province and the city on Phase 2, which would see the line extended to the north.

Ground has officially been broken on the new Lloydminster Waste Water Treatment Plant. Mayor Gerald Aalbers, Onion Lake Cree Nation Okimaw Henry Lewis, Saskatchewan Government Relations Minister Don McMorris, Alberta Minister of Transportation/Municipal Affairs Ric McIver and MLAs Colleen Young and Garth Rowswell were all in attendance as shovels hit the dirt on the facility on May 14th. The starting of this project means several things for Lloydminster and the surrounding area. The new facility, built adjacent to the old one, will meet the needs of Lloydminster’s growing population, protect regional waterways while preparing for the future by meeting the federal and provincial standards along with adhering to environmental standards, the City says.

Montana Partners With Alberta in Giving Vaccines to Truck Drivers

According to the announcement, the program is in partnership with Alberta, Canada. Premier Jason Kenney from Alberta also announced on the same day that Alberta and Montana signed a Memorandum of Agreement that will vaccinate truck drivers coming from their town to the United States. Associated Press reported that the announcement of the Montana government about the program followed the 1,000 doses of Pfizer and Moderna from the Blackfeet tribe in Northern Montana. The said doses were given to the tribe s relatives and neighbors across the border.
