The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved a strategic stock of food security thanks to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
It came following HM the King’s speech during the opening of the second session of the fifth legislative term of the Shura and Parliament in October 2019, during which he called for the development of a strategic project for national food production.
The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning said that work was carried out immediately to implement the royal directives by developing national capabilities in the field of food industries, raising the percentage of local production, as well as providing incentives and facilities to preserve the expertise of professionals, especially in areas of food security.

Works Minister has made a green step by inaugurating the first pocket forest initiative in Bahrain at Hidden Treasure Garden to celebrate Earth Day.
Essam Khalaf said the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, in collaboration with the Indian Ladies Association and the Garden Friends Team, is behind the environment volunteers project.
Pocket forest or Miyawaki is a technique pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki for building dense and native forests. The approach is supposed to ensure that plant growth is ten times faster and the resulting plantation is 30 times thicker than usual.

The accident at the Iranian nuclear facility in Natanz had produced zero risks to Bahrain in terms of harmful radiations, Interior Minister confirmed.
“There is no radiation hazard to people or the environment within the borders of Bahrain or its territorial waters,” said Lieutenant General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The confirmation came as the minister chaired a meeting of the Civil Defence Council to review the outcomes of an accident at the Natanz Iranian nuclear facility.
Earlier, the Public Security Chief chaired an emergency meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee and had directed a panel to study the general preparedness and the formation of a team to review procedures and launch a media plan to enhance public awareness on radiation accidents.
