San Antonio stands at a crossroads. The coronavirus pandemic has devastated our economy and caused enormous social and economic pain for our citizens. That pain has been greatest for those who work in the visitor and hospitality sectors. The convention business has collapsed, travel has shrunk, and restaurants have shuttered. It will be years before those jobs return, if ever. That economic devastation has been most pronounced in the part of our city most reliant on visitors and hotel stays the downtown core. Over a period of some five decades, we or rather, our political and business leadership succeeded in building a downtown that functions almost solely for visitors. EAST LIVERPOOL The former East Liverpool Motor Lodge now is owned by the city’s Community Improvement Corporation.
The board agreed Monday to accept donation of the real property located at 2340 Dresden Ave., which was recently valued at $1.75 million.
During the gathering, which was preceded by a meeting of the CIC’s property maintenance board, East Liverpool Mayor Greg Bricker expressed the city’s excitement for the
acquisition. “This is a tremendous opportunity for the city.”
The property was owned by ELML Investments LLC, which is owned and managed by Eli Gunzburg, who also operates Valley Oaks Care Center.
