As lawmakers pondered reauthorizing the Obama administration’s signature surface transportation bill, the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs asked Heritage Foundation research associate David Ditch to share his views on the topic.    Ditch has spent years working on transportation and infrastructure issues and has found a lot not to like about the Fixing America s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Passed in December 2015, the law was set to expire after five years. He urged members of the committee to re-examine the bill closely.

Share New Delhi: Times Professional Learning (TPL) has partnered with the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of Madhya Pradesh, to impart skill training to youth. TPL has successfully trained 1686 youth in 15 districts and established 15 skill development centres till FY 2019-20 in the state. TPL has provided skills in Information Communication Technology, BFSI, IT-ITES, Banking & Accounting, Banking Financial Services & Insurance, Constriction, Garment Making, Tourism & Hospitality, Plumbing, and Health Care. The skill training was conducted among the youth from rural areas with a minimum requirement that the student have passed HSC.

University of New Orleans planning and urban studies professor Marla Nelson has been selected as a 2021 inductee into the Urban Affairs Association Honor Roll. Nelson is one of 16 people to receive the award, which recognizes the association’s most impactful service leaders. The Urban Affairs Association (UAA) is the international professional organization for urban scholars, researchers and public/nonprofit service providers. The association is dedicated to creating interdisciplinary spaces for engaging in intellectual and practical discussions about urban life. Nelson, who coordinates the Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) program at UNO, has published widely on the impacts of and responses to industrial and occupational restructuring in U.S. cities and regions, human capital and interregional migration, and post-disaster recovery and redevelopment.
