The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has slapped charges of smuggling against importers that brought in various branded medicines and printing equipment in the country in August 2020. The agency bared in a statement Monday, March 15 that it filed the criminal charges last March 12 before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Facilitating the filing of the cases were the bureau’s Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS) together with personnel from the Port of Manila and Manila International Container Port.
Rapped were F.E.R.N Freight Enterprises and its customs broker for the alleged unlawful importation and misdeclaration of various branded medicines and ointments with a total value of P20,346,072.45 on August 15, 2020 at the Manila International Container Port.

The cases were lodged late last month by the Bureau’s Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS) before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The first case is against Mountain View Multi-Purpose Cooperative for the alleged unlawful importation and misdeclaration of various agricultural products, with a total value of P7,252,561.85 on July 13, 2020 at the Port of Subic.
MBS Cargo Movers Co. was also charged for the alleged unlawful importation and misdeclaration of cigarettes, with a total value of P36,590,901.10 on February 4, 2021 at the Manila International Container Port.
The third case is against Lenoil Houseware Trading for the alleged unlawful importation and misdeclaration of various general merchandise, with a total value of P1,248,614.49 on August 13, 2020 at the Port of Manila.
MANILA, Feb. 18 In line with the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) mandate to protect the country’s borders from the entry of illegal and smuggled goods, the Bureau’s Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS), filed criminal cases before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against two (2) importers for the alleged misdeclaration and illegal importation of counterfeit and prohibited goods.
The first case is against YJC International Corporation for alleged unlawful importation and misdeclaration of 1,599 cartons (79,950 reams) of counterfeit cigarettes with a total value of PHP 76,837,676.47. The consignee declared its shipment as plastic frames and sheets. The commission of said violation happened on 03 January 2021 in the Manila International Container Port.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) through its Bureau’s Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS), filed criminal cases against YJC International Corporation and MBS Cargo Movers Co. before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with the alleged misdeclaration and illegal importation of counterfeit and prohibited goods.
YJC was rapped for alleged unlawful importation and misdeclaration of 79,950 reams of counterfeit cigarettes amounting to P76.8 million. The items, declared by the consignee as “plastic frames and sheets”, were seized on Jan. 3, 2021 at the Manila International Container Port.
MBS was also charged for alleged illegal importation and misdeclaration of 344 boxes of “ukay-ukay” or used clothes, which were declared as “used personal effects”. The items were intercepted on August 10, 2020 at the same port.
