Good morning bloggers,
Low clouds were spreading across the state line of Missouri & Kansas as I started writing this blog. It will likely become overcast for much of the day with the sun angle so low. Winter begins at around 4 AM Monday morning. Let s discuss the Arctic Oscillation today as we see some changes in that index showing up.
Let s begin, however, with this mornings low cloud surge:
One of the new features we have at 41 Action News is this cloud sector that allows us to show the low clouds at night. This picture, taken around 7:45 AM, shows the low clouds along and just west of the state line. They were steadily moving east, and it will likely become a thick low overcast for at least a few hours as these shift east.

Good morning bloggers,
What is going on with this weather pattern? The first answer is the LRC. The weather pattern that is cycling, according to the LRC, has placed Kansas City in a spot that is not receiving much precipitation. In fact, we have only had 0.06 of rain this month with only a very little bit in the next weeks forecast.
The LRC is the centerpiece of the big atmospheric cycling pattern puzzle. It provides weather insight that just allowed us to make a great prediction. Yesterday, while we had a cold and dry December day, Oklahoma City got hit by another storm. Take a look:

Good morning bloggers,
There was a brief rain shower early this morning while most of you were sleeping. Unfortunately, this is another storm that just swung and missed, thus striking out for any significant rain or snow, that we really need. There may be another 0.01 to 0.10 , but that is it from today s storm system. A few rain showers were forming as I was finishing this blog around 7 AM.
Let s begin with this forecast map valid Saturday morning! There is one storm over the Great Lakes states with a trailing area of snow near KC, and there is a second storm over the western states that will miss KC to the south. This second storm will have impacts on Oklahoma.
