Thank you to Mary McNamara for her column about bullying in Hollywood [“Hey Hollywood, Stop the Bully Act,” April 13]. Bullies also exist in families, schools, neighborhoods, the military, the police and other workplaces.
As a victim of bullies as a youngster and teenager, I have felt their power. Walking from school one day, an absolute stranger walking across the street called me a name. For reasons I cannot explain, I intuitively found it humorous that this stranger felt that I was a threat to his sense of self. And suddenly my stomach pain disappeared and I stood tall, realizing that this bully, and all bullies, are cowards, and the perceived weak trigger their own insecurities.

The charges and the commendations were contained in the speeches by the leaders rendered at the opening of a two-day leadership master-class training for Nollywood actors at the GOTNI Leadership Centre in Abuja on Friday.

The Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said the film industry contributes 2.3 per cent to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Mr Gbajabiamila said this at a two-day leadership masterclass training for Nollywood Actors organised by the House Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, on Friday in Abuja.
With over 2,500 movies produced annually, the speaker said it was expedient to acknowledge and celebrate Nollywood actors and actresses as well as others who made up the Nollywood entertainment industry.

South Korean screen veteran Youn Yuh-jung has won best supporting actress for her role in the immigration film "Minari" at this year's British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards.
At the ceremony of the BAFTA Film Awards held at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (British time), Youn took home the award for best supporting actress.
She beat Maria Bakalova for "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm," Niamh Algar for "Calm with Horses," Kosar Ali for "Rocks" and Ashley Madekwe for "County Lines."
