1,279 Test Positive as Kagwe Outlines Emergency Measures

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Wednesday, March 17, announced that 1,279 people had tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 7,450 tested in the last 24 hours.
The total confirmed positive cases now stand at 116,310 and the total tests conducted so far are 1,387,440. From the cases 1,218 are Kenyans while 61 are foreigners. 723 are males and 556 are females . The youngest is
a two - month - old infant while the oldest is 96 .
CS Kagwe noted that the country is experiencing a steady increase in the cases due to the third wave. He said that 200 people have succumbed to Covid-19 since January as he reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta s directives on Covid-19 protocols while issuing new emergency measures including:

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced that Kenya is on the third Wave of the Covid-19 pandemic as 12 people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, pushing Kenya s cumulative fatalities to 1,898.
Speaking on Wednesday, March 10, the Health CS stated that a total of 713 people tested positive for the Coronavirus out of a sample size of 5,230 tested. The total confirmed positive cases are now 110,356.
The daily cases reported were the highest number of cases in 2021 with the previous high being on March 6, where Kenya recorded 633 cases.

Nairobi Metropolitan Services director of Health services Dr. Josephine Kibaru-Mbae has listed 16 hospitals in Nairobi where citizens can get Covid-19 vaccination. This comes hours after the Acting Health director-general Dr. Patrick Omoth was vaccinated today at Kenyatta National Hospital becoming the first person in Kenya to get it.
Kibaru said that both private and public hospitals will be used in the vaccination programme when it starts next week. The criteria used to list the facilities was based on the preparation level.
