Nancy Pelosi s dangerous and silly nuclear mistake

Nancy Pelosi s dangerous and silly nuclear mistake Tom Rogan © Provided by Washington Examiner I know our political dialogue isn t so hot right now, but here s an idea. In the final days of the Trump presidency, let s maybe leave nuclear weapons out of it? Flirtation with thermonuclear heat is ill-inclined to the nation s better interest. I say this in light of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi s announcement on Friday that she has spoken to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley to discuss available precautions for preventing an unstable president from initiating military hostilities or accessing the launch codes and ordering a nuclear strike. A spokesperson for Milley says that the Chairman simply briefed Pelosi on the nuclear command authority.

Mid-Day Digest

Douglas Andrews Two things occurred to our editorial team as we watched things spin out of control at the Capitol yesterday afternoon: First, we knew this would be one of those few-in-a-lifetime days that we remember because of its uniqueness and its gravity — a day like 9/11 or the day of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. And second, we wondered whether those Central American refugees amassing at our southern border would scratch their heads, turn around, and head back home. Admittedly, a third thing also occurred to us: What a mess our country seems to be right now. Searching for some honor and decency amid the rubble that was January 6, 2021, we came across these simple words from Vice President Mike Pence: “It’s my considered judgment that my oath to support and defend the Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not.”

Lewis Morris: Woke Ideology Infects Civics and the Military — The Patriot Post

The concept of a “woke” culture is no longer just something being pushed on television, in academia, and in social media. We now live in an age where the woke ideals of the Left — focusing all our social, economic, and political energies on race, gender, and sexual preference — are becoming the norm. It would offer some comfort to think that the self-loathing, white-guilt, historically and socially ignorant movement that has emerged in recent years was just a passing fad, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Woke culture is on the march, and its goal is nothing short of subversion of the American way of life.
