Border Patrol Agents Seize $1.6 Million in Meth & Cocaine
LAREDO, TX U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry seized narcotics in separate, unrelated incidents that totaled over $1.6 million in street value.
“As these three seizures illustrate, our frontline officers at World Trade Bridge continue to maintain their vigilance, supporting the CBP mission by disrupting the flow of illegal narcotics entering our borders,” said Acting Port Director Eugene Crawford, Laredo Port of Entry.
The first enforcement action occurred on Tuesday, January 26, when CBP officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered a tractor hauling a shipment of toilet paper arriving from Mexico. A man has been arrested as he tried to smuggle $656,000 in heroin through the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Vrayan Jonatan Romero Mier, 25, was charged with import and conspire to import heroin.
He arrived at the bridge on Saturday driving a 2006 Toyota Rav4. Romero Mier was referred to secondary inspection following a computer-generated alert, states an arrest affidavit.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized $141,000 in marijuana at the World Trade Bridge, authorities said.
A 2003 Ford truck hauling a shipment of plastic household articles arrived at the bridge on Wednesday. The vehicle was referred for K-9 and X-ray inspection.
This resulted in the discovery of 661 packages within the shipment. The packages contained 709 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $141,799.
