The Lagos State Government in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has kicked-off the cash-for-work programme for vulnerable people in the State with the aim of cushioning the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking at the flagging off of the intervention programme held at Ndubusi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals and Investment, Mrs. Solape Hammond described the project as part of government’s response to ameliorate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the vulnerable individuals and small business owners.
According to her, the project which is a collaborative effort between the State government and UNDP with the support of Japan Government will be providing grant to 945 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) to resuscitate their businesses which have been affected by the pandemic and the aftermath of the ENDSARS protest.

The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has waived registration fee to 200 Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) amidst COVID-19 pandemic in Bauchi.
NAFDAC’s State Coordinator, Mr Mohammed Muazu, told newsmen on Friday in Bauchi that the measure was to encourage and promote SMEs amidst the pandemic in the state.
He said the agency took the measure to provide succour to the SMEs and to promote economic development in the country.
“In order to bring succour, the agency provides palliative to the SMEs by slashing the cost of registration of their products.

Mrs AbdulRazaq was speaking virtually at the Financial Literacy Workshop for Small and Medium Scale Business owners in Kwara.
It was organised by the Office of the First Lady and the Ajike People Support Centre in collaboration with Leadway Assurance Company Limited, held in Ilorin on Wednesday.
She noted that SMEs play a major role in the economy of every nation, adding that they accounted for majority of businesses and important contributors to job creation and economic development.
